Frequently Asked Questions

Is Insurance included?

Yes!

What is Included in our Rent-A-Car's Insurance?

The insurance is a comprehensive policy, covering damage to the rental vehicle, third party damage and fire and theft.

Can I use my own Insurance?

Unfortunately we do not allow retail customers to utilise their own insurance. However if you are a business customer please discuss this with the rental manager at the time of booking.

What is the insurance excess for a rental van?

Our van rental insurance excess is £1,000 as standard. Those aged over 25 are eligible for the enhanced collision damage waiver, which would reduce the excess to £250.

Is Glass covered?

Glass is covered through our insurance, however it is subject to the excess applicable.

Are tyres covered?

Tyres are not covered through our insurance.

Can I reduce my excess?

We do offer an enhanced collision damage waiver priced at £10 per rental day inclusive, to further reduce excess to the following:

25 and over £250

Who do I contact for insurance advice?

Please contact your nearest rental location for advice on insurance.

How will I be charged in the event of damage?

If new damage is noted when the vehicle is returned, you will be charged the corresponding excess amount. Should the final repair cost be lower than the excess charged, the difference will be reimbursed. In the event that our insurer is able to reclaim the costs from a third party, because the damage was the result of an incident that is proven to be not your fault, you will be reimbursed the excess charges in full.

What are the different types of additional extras and cover available?

We offer a range of optional extras that you can book to make your journey go smoother. Currently, this includes an additional charge for traveling abroad, adding additional drivers, and our ECDW. Our standard price quoted includes comprehensive insurance with an insurance excess.

What does CDW or Collision Damage Waiver mean?

If you are 25 years and over and want to reduce the amount of excess you are liable for, should you be in an accident or the vehicle is stolen, you can do so by adding our eCDW as an option to your booking. This will reduce your excess to £250 for car rental from the standard £500.
