MAKING THE MOVE TO ELECTRIC MOTORING

Making the switch to electric is a huge step to reducing emissions and the release of them into the atmosphere. This reduction in harmful emissions also has a positive effect on human health, particularly in busy, built up areas. Zero emissions also means you don’t have to pay the London congestion charge. Although emissions are much lower per mile than petrol or diesel engines, you could go one step further and switch to Ecotricity, Britain’s greenest energy company. This would mean your electricity will come completely from renewable and sustainable sources, rather than a fossil fuel power plant.

Recharging an electric vehicle costs much less than filling up with fuel. The cost of electricity at charging stations varies and some points are free, however charging at home can cost as little as 2p per mile. What’s more, the government offers grants to anyone making the switch, saving you thousands of pounds before you’ve even driven away.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ARE ELECTRIC VANS SUITABLE FOR BUSINESSES?
Electric vans can help keep business running costs down and offer a number of financial benefits. The main saving will be you won't be paying for petrol or diesel, and a full charge can cost you less than £5, so you will be spending less to travel. Plus, electric vehicles have zero emissions meaning you won't have to pay road tax, congestion charges or emission charges.

HOW FAR CAN ELECTRIC VANS TRAVEL?
The majority of businesses are on the road, with our electric vans you can travel up to 124 miles with the Kangoo Z.E. 33, or up to 74 miles for the New Master Z.E.

WHAT ARE MY CHARGING OPTIONS?

We’ve made charging your electric vehicle simple and accessible, allowing you to charge at home, on the go and even in a rush. To charge at home, all you need is a household socket or wall box that’s been professionally installed. There is a choice of three different power outlets and charging speeds available. All charging equipment is completely weather proof. When out and about you can simply charge it up during a short break at a charging station, in as little as 20 minutes.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CHARGE?

Charging your Kangoo Z.E. 33 will take 6 hours using a wall-mounted home charging box set up. Alternatively, the Master Z.E. 33 will charge in 6 hours using a 7kW charger or will be charged overnight using a wallbox charger.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY BATTERY RUNS OUT?
With our 24/7 breakdown assistance, even if you run out of energy an AXA agent will come and help you, they will take you to a charge point of your choice within a 50-mile radius. The recovery service is not available for customers who have purchased the battery.

HOW DOES MAINTENANCE OF AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE DIFFER?
An electric car is easier and more economical to maintain than a fuel-powered vehicle. With a Renault Z.E. you no longer need to worry about changing the engine oil, as an electric motor does not need lubricating. Similarly, brake pads, disks and drums have a significantly longer life expectancy thanks to regenerative braking.

IS IT BAD TO CHARGE THE BATTERY IF IT'S NOT EMPTY?
With the new lithium-ion batteries there are no restrictions on charging and it is possible to charge the battery even if it is not completely empty. The new lithium-ion batteries in Renault Z.E. vehicles have the most efficient technology on the market and have no memory effect, meaning they can be charged or even partially charged at any time without having a negative affect on performance of the battery.

DOES THE WEATHER AFFECT HOW FAR I CAN DRIVE?
Similarly to all batteries, our Z.E. batteries will hold less charge in the cold weather than at a warmer temperatures, meaning you will notice a reduction in the range during the winter months. Renault have completed comprehensive testing and the battery was still able to function as normal at -20°C with the only change being the reduction in the range.
